STITCH – Illustration Friday

Okay, the word for Illustration Friday was “Stitch”.

I did the usual (9) tiny thumbnails, which were in a stream of consciousness, that touched on cats, cross-stitch, quilts, needles, scissors, thread, knitting needles, yarn, nursery rhymes and lines.

When I looked at the tiny drawings, they all seemed so silly and mundane. I went into my usual self-talk of “how are you going to make it in this art world with such boring thoughts?”

I decided I would enlarge my thumbnail of the knitting needles and yarn and that would be it for this week.

Later in the evening, I stayed up mindlessly watching horror movies and finally sleep hits me. So this is what I ended up with. I love the process of making art, but, oh, but then there is the climax and it’s all over…!

  2. Eeek! Terrific, so visceral yet homey (slashed wrists and counted cross stitch: what a combo!) Hey, are you my friend Indigene who I plan to meet up with for coffee soon or some imposter? ;->

  4. Love the title of your blog! My favorite part about I.F. is the thought process and reading how others come to illustrate what they do. Thank you for sharing your sketch with us.:)ps: Thank you for visiting my blog
