Walking in Nature’s Inspiration

I love painting faces. I never get tired of it, and I’ll never run out of faces! Yet, for inspiration I go to nature, I’m not sure why that is, but in order for me to set the mood or get out of a funk or creative block, nature is always my go-to.

Seeing a feather on my  path,  the sweet breeze from the trees and the sensual sounds of a stream, all of it can be had in nature; it also puts us in touch with divinity. Our job is to recognize the signs as they come and honor them with an inner glow and inspired action. When we do this we meet our divinity. Our souls has magical ways of getting our attention.

I’ve been reflecting on so many things of late, and  I felt a sense of stagnant energy, so I gathered my art bag and my sweet partner, and off to the woods we went!

So here’s some of the things that fuel my muse. I suggest a walk in nature to get your creativity to jump-start!

So come, take a walk with me…

Red Covered Bridge

Red Covered Bridge

We’re entering the magic zone, where inspiration awaits us at the other end. We just need to enter…..

Inside the beginning of inspiration

I love the smell of the wood inside here, and the beauty of being enclosed in nature…..

Close Ups of Inspiration

Sometimes I stop and crouch to see the beauty of my inspiration magnified….

Standing back

Now we stand back and watch….

Watching Nature in actionIt has a soothing way of activity….

It speaks its own languageI love the sounds…but I’m filled with a quiet energy, called to action….

Skipping StonesI take my action…as the stones skip across the water….

Nature's ArtI love how nature puts its own art together…

ContrastMore close-ups and contrast…

Settling inI finally settling in…called to sit and ponder my feelings with my own musings and marks….this is the time I go into my mind, and come out with some visuals that will lead me in the studio. Spending time here and walking has made me feel in touch with my muse…I’m really hype to get back to the studio…it’s time to get back…

So we head back….

Path back

It’s been a beautiful day filled with inspiration and nature’s beauty.

From my passionate and wild creative soul to yours, I wish you peace.

Love, Harmony & Peace

  1. Beautiful post Indigene.
It's so very true, nature is a wonderful, always an inspiring connection to the Creator.
I did nothing but portraiture for so many years , as it was my passion ans specialty. I shied away and actually and really avoided things in nature, It was too overwhelming to think about replicating realistically.. I was not interested, until I moved here to Apple River twenty years ago. Boy did my subject matter change! Trees, flowers, ducks, the ocean and all was my preoccupation.
My focus too became centered on spirituality, and narrative work. Nature is a such natural high and a wondrously. great blessing, that lifts our souls to heavenward, and makes us better human beings.

  3. Oh how lovely! I absolutely loved going on this walk with you (nature is soothing and nurturing even vicariously!). I loved that little peek inside your adventure bag, too. Thanks for taking us with you!

  4. Indigene, this is so beautiful! We have a park with two covered bridges, that is not too far away from where we live. Suddenly, I feel the need to get the family there for a visit! Nothing calms my soul and makes me feel more connected to our Creator than being in nature. On a beautiful day, I actually feel guilty if I don't get to spend a few quality minutes outside! I've not been good at sketching when I am away from home. I don't know if I feel I can't concentrate, or what it is. I do want to get better at doing that, and I have a bag packed to put it into practice! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us.

  5. Thanks for the Naturewalk Indigene! Yes I too am deeply inspired by the Great Mystery unfolding with her seasons and vycles. The sounds pull into the rhythms of our creativity. She is the perfect muse.

  7. Nature is the greatest of all inspirations! I find that as well myself and yet so often we forget to just step out the door and get out there. Thank you for the reminder to do so!
