Falling in Self-Love…

“If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.” – Eckhart Tolle

I found this quote at a time when I needed it, many years ago.  In a world that places so much emphasis on our physical body, it is challenging to remember that the real work is done on the inside of us.

Personally, I have spent many hours, at different times in my life trying to look a certain way…trying to fit a standard of beauty.  I exercised like a maniac to fit into a certain size.  I changed my hair numerous times and I spent a lot of money on clothing that was “in”.  In fact, it took me until my mid thirties to recognize what my own version of beauty was – until then I was trying to conform myself to whatever my friends, husband or boyfriends, society or work, thought was attractive.  What I learned, is that until I could define what beautiful meant in my own eyes, then I would never feel beautiful in my own skin.

I also learned that defining beautiful did not mean the size of my dress or the numbers on my scale.  I found that the real meaning of beauty lay deep inside of me.  For a woman to feel she is beautiful, she must be at peace within herself.  She has to become confident in who she is and what she stands for.  I learned when a woman recognizes her own worth, she will begin to accept the body she lives in.  When you accept your body as it is, it creates the space for you to change in healthy and permanent ways.

You and I celebrating you!

You and I celebrating you!

So with Valentine’s Day coming up and so much emphasis is placed on couples and having a significant other, I wanted to create art that emphasis love…loving yourself…loving your life.  I dedicate these pieces to you and your journey towards getting your inside right.

From my wildly passionate creative soul to yours in peace!

Please note that these “Celebration of You” series will go on sale in my Etsy Shop on February 2, 2015.  (wine & glasses not included.)

  1. This is wonderful! What great thoughts on beauty and where it comes from. Yes, you have to dig down deep and find your own beauty to really feel beautiful. Thank you for this!

  2. Your story resonates with me on so many levels. I spent far too many years worrying about my looks and my size. It took me having a few daughters to finally smarten up – I realized that I would never say to them, what I was saying to myself. Great post!

  3. Thanks Theresa beautifully said! I agree with what you wrote. I use to worry about how I looked compared myself and try hard to fit in, then one day I realized that I am happy with me who I am and decided not to negatively focus on my flaws/ my size my outer appearance. Although once in awhile I will catch myself when a negative thought about my appearance comes through I will quickly acknowledge the thought and diffuse it.
