I’ve modified the color for the line drawing of last week’s prompt, “Idle.” I’m happy that it only took me a couple of days! I love Bears, they are my favorite wild animal, especially polar bears. Global warming has put these magnificent wild creatures in danger. So my Illustration Friday piece this week based on the word, “Time” is a tribute to these creatures. Human beings are stewards of the earth, please, let’s try to act like it. The first thing was the handouts I used to get in 1st grade, with the title, “Which Doesn’t Belong?” The second thing I thought about was high school and all the different “cliques” that alienated all of us from each other; because of some lame excuse that no one remembers after they left of high school or if you did remember, it’s not important any longer! But, finally, for inspiration, I decided to go with the old nest in my backyard and improvise. “Cliques” abound, even in nature…so with that I’ll let the image speak for itself. From experience, I’ve always been the blue egg! What about you? We all belong to the human “clique”, everything else are in the details. Vive la difference! I created this piece two months ago. It was inspired by a foggy mist that covered the moon one night from my deck and the howling dog two houses away from me! It reminded me of a wolf howling at a foggy moon. I portrayed the moon as an old woman, since she’s been around for centuries! May your all your fog be lifted and beautiful light guides your way! This image was created after visiting South America. While I was there, I distinctly remember, tourists stating that there were still “primitive people” to see in the jungle. Every time I heard it, I cringed inside. I absolutely despise the term, “primitive” when it is associated with people or their culture! Yes, I know that some folks don’t mean any harm when they use the term when referencing people, and I try to take in consideration, ignorance, age difference, cultural exposure, etc. But it still gives me a burn and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Anyhow, I created this piece after visiting the beautiful forest areas in South America and enjoying all the children, I met along the way. They were like all children all over the world, simply beautiful. Happy Week and try to expose yourself to new environments and people and remember to leave your judgements at home! The design for Illustration Friday is PLAIN. I imagine the plains of the west and southwest of the U.S.A. I tried to make the composition as plain as possible, but still convey the color of the plains. VOTE!!Thursday, January 10th, 2008
