Swarming with Dreams

Friday, February 25th, 2011

It has been a long week full of exciting things, that I will reveal in time. It has also been a week of taking care of the daily things in the routine of life; you know the stuff, that you do, but you really rather be doing something fun.  Oh well, there is always dreams…

So after dreaming about birds again last night, lots of birds, lots of birds flying, the whole dream in blue, I decided to post my dream sequence  image of swarming birds…:)

Sometimes dreams help solve problems or give answers that exist or are needed in the conscious world, but sometimes dreams are just crazy nonsensical dreams.

But, how do you tell?  I’m open to answers.

After my week, I think it’s probably the universe, playing its own kind of game, (see image below) watching us, running through our lives, not doing what truly matters.

Be still, be alert and always present.

Peace.

Abundance

Walrus Totem

My intent for this year is to live in abundance, it is what I will be aware of in my life, the abundance that I have in mind, body and spirit.

The word came to me during my quiet time in the morning where I do my sitting in silence prayer, my “Morning Pages” (journaling), then I listen to tribal music, in my nook with a candle burning, living in that special moment. It has become a ritual that gives sanity to a day that may have anything in store for me.

It doesn’t mean that I will not have bad days or days of frustration, but that I will remember, I have abundance of everything, “creativity, love, family, patience, will, friendship, ambition, money, etc.” in those moments and throughout the day.

Peace to you.

WIP – Completion…set adrift again…

Friday, February 12th, 2010

It is done! What began as night pacing (see my December 6, 2009 blog post); has culminated into the finale.

I am now in that stage where the crescendo has ended. I have the feeling of not being anchored; I am adrift, until I delve into the next project.  Of course, I’ll sketch and create, but it is a different energy than being possessed by a painting screaming to get out!

Sometimes the best way to describe the creative zone, would be mania, crescendo, then an anti-climatic feeling sets in, finally a sadness that it’s over; and then peace,

but…then it starts all over again.

Remember to nurture your body, mind and spirit and being adrift may mean letting go of control.

I want to thank you all who continue to support me, I feel loved. Peace to everyone.

Hatching Ideas

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I had a long commute to work today as a passenger. I was tired of the radio, and watching other cars, go by. I looked in my handbag to see what I could find, so that I wouldn’t fall asleep! I’m not usually my best with sleep lines on my face from odd head positions while napping with no pillow.

Rummaging through my big tote bag yielded a Christmas catalog, a six-inch ruler, scissors, a couple of pieces of watercolor paper, my KOI pocket field sketch box with water brush, a glue stick, micro-pen, and a graphite pencil.  I knew today was the only time I was going to have a small chunk of time to do an illustration for the prompt for Illustration Friday, the word for this week is “hatch”.

Honestly, with the holidays around the corner, and everywhere you look you see festive houses, streets and stores, the festivity has a way of imprinting itself on your mind! And the IF prompt, for me anyway, only flashed pictures of eggs, hatchback cars and spring.

So here it is, an illustration for “Hatch”!

I hope that everyone’s creativity and ideas hatch into some wonderful real life scenarios for 2010.

Peace to you all.

Subtract – IF

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Subtraction is an odd word to illustrate, especially while living in a culture where “more” is considered better and I see daily how that’s  taken over the top! Maybe taking away is an answer, not a punishment.

My thoughts on Illustration Friday’s word, “subtract” led me to the image of a Geisha, where I subtracted the background, to make you more conscious of the individual. The simplicity of beauty is evident, but a paradox, in the way I’m using it, since Geishas, wear many  added layers of clothing.

So in this image, you can think about the addition of many garments or the subtraction of environment. There’s a lot to ponder in a paradox…or not!

Whether you subtract from life or add to life, it is the living that must be done.   Happy Week…Peace.

Similar – IF

Monday, December 8th, 2008

This week for Illustration Friday, I did not have time to come up with a new illustration, so I had to borrow an image I’ve already created. What can I say? Life is hectic!

There are so many ways that people are similar, but unfortunately we have created a history of focusing on negative differences. Maybe…hopefully, in the USA, we are now focusing on the similarities and celebrating all our differences.

Oh I am so wishing for this New Year in the United States of America!   Peace.

STITCH – Illustration Friday

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Okay, the word for Illustration Friday was “Stitch”.

I did the usual (9) tiny thumbnails, which were in a stream of consciousness, that touched on cats, cross-stitch, quilts, needles, scissors, thread, knitting needles, yarn, nursery rhymes and lines.

When I looked at the tiny drawings, they all seemed so silly and mundane. I went into my usual self-talk of “how are you going to make it in this art world with such boring thoughts?”

I decided I would enlarge my thumbnail of the knitting needles and yarn and that would be it for this week.

Later in the evening, I stayed up mindlessly watching horror movies and finally sleep hits me. So this is what I ended up with. I love the process of making art, but, oh, but then there is the climax and it’s all over…!
