I completed this image some time ago and it is entitled, “Savior”. I thought it was fitting since this stranger has saved this little girl from some plight. I’m not sure where my head was when I completed this illustration, but I know that this was completed after the Katrina Disaster. So, this is “Save” for my Illustration Friday.

I’ve been in a strange mood lately, doing some real soul searching and I realized that my choices for Illustration Friday have been somewhat serious lately. There goes the adage, about separating work from play. For me, as an artist the two are always intertwined. Have a safe and peaceful week!

Okay, the word for Illustration Friday was “Stitch”.

I did the usual (9) tiny thumbnails, which were in a stream of consciousness, that touched on cats, cross-stitch, quilts, needles, scissors, thread, knitting needles, yarn, nursery rhymes and lines.

When I looked at the tiny drawings, they all seemed so silly and mundane. I went into my usual self-talk of “how are you going to make it in this art world with such boring thoughts?”

I decided I would enlarge my thumbnail of the knitting needles and yarn and that would be it for this week.

Later in the evening, I stayed up mindlessly watching horror movies and finally sleep hits me. So this is what I ended up with. I love the process of making art, but, oh, but then there is the climax and it’s all over…!
