The people who buy my art, delight me in so many ways! I have wonderful conversations with them, we share heartfelt stories and we are both passionate about my art. Here are a few of those amazing individuals who bought my art and sent me pictures, to show me their delight and the places where "our" art hangs. My painting is the one in the center. This collector has to hang his paintings high, since he has an adventurous cat! :) The painting, "Elephant Dreams" was a commissioned mixed-media piece, that included antique buttons, gold leaf and sculptured mini faces. You can read about it on my blog post ... Continue Reading »

Encouraging Words…
A couple of days before Spring, I received a lovely package in the mail from my friend, Colleen Attara. Colleen is this amazing artist, who uses recycle and reclaimed materials and turn them into works of art. Colleen also creates words, out of a plastic recycled materials and I asked her to create a couple of words for me. Words have a way of creating a path, a life and action. After receiving my love package, and on the first day of spring, we got snow! So on a very cold day, when spring was nowhere in sight, I was outside in the snow, hoping that this "word" would send a message out to the universe, so the warm air would "spring" ... 50+ and growing pains…
Isn't there a saying about "teaching an old dog, new tricks or there's no fool, like an old fool"...with saying like these who wants to admit they're still learning about themselves after 50?! Maybe that's why many of us pretend that we have it all together. Well, I know, I don't have it all together, and I'm not pretending to either! My art still teaches me more about myself daily. I've just completed one of two recent commissions. This painting was a challenge on many levels: Self-imposed time constraints I don't usually do pet portraits my perfectionist nature and my lack of experience in pet portraits had my critical self (aka ... Elephant Dreams
This is where I'm at with "Elephant Dreams", a mixed media piece on 30" x 30" canvas that I've been working on. It is a commission, it is sitting on my easel now, in a state of being worked on, so I'm good with sharing this part of it. This piece was a collaboration of what the client wanted and part intuitive. This collector has a love of elephants and loves my mixed media art. Art continues to flow as I work on a couple of commissions. The regular flux of being studio grounded tells me that I'm being active and that feels good. I'm learning to see rejections as both a sign that I'm trying and that it's just not a great fit at the moment ... Continue Reading »
Gratitude for Imagination
My imagination has been on overdrive this week! Creating my own pages for my Book of Days Art Journal and creating pages for the "Gratitude Art Journal" Give-Away. I wanted the pages for the give-away to be different from my everyday art journaling efforts, but still have plenty of the bold colors, I'm known for. Below are some of the pages, I've completed for the Gratitude Art Journal. Next, I will be adding text to the pages, but also leaving room for the winner to add whatever they'd like to the journal as well, once they receive it. This is going to be a sweet, deliciously colorful journal, if I must say so myself! :) So in order to get ... Continue Reading »
Gratitude Journal – Give Away!
I am creating a "Gratitude Art Journal." The journal will be filled with art, collages, quotes and affirmations about gratitude. The journal will have all kind of embellishment and colors, with plenty of room for your journal entries and/or entries of gratitude. Once it's completed, I will be giving it away! So in order to get this Gratitude Art Journal all you have to do is leave a comment here about what you're grateful for and/or "like" my Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/indigeneart (you also get to see my art journaling pages on my FB page). If you leave a comment and like my FB Page, you will get two entries and for those of ... Continue Reading »
Bounce Back
The last few weeks have been an incredibly busy time for me. I've finished (15) paintings in three weeks, while I continue working and being part of an Artist Mentoring Program. I am art journaling in a new altered book that has me reaching deep into the well of inspiration and creativity, adding new items to my Etsy Shop and still dealing with the now smaller waves of grief that come to me since the loss of my sister and mother. With all of these feelings running rampant, I'm breathing deeply, meditating, indulging in active self-care and lots of family and friends' love. I'm loving the becoming and realizing that I'm absolutely the Queen of ... Continue Reading »
