There is an advantage to a one-on-one workshop with an artist at their studio. You get the attention you need especially, if it's a whole new process you're learning. You get your answers quickly and on the spot and it takes your creativity up a whole other notch! I've been creating more elaborate art journals and falling more and more in love with book art and the making of books. I wanted to take my work to another level. I am always drawn to adding pieces to my paintings and book art, so imagine how thrilled I was to find out about Leslie Marsh and her work. Leslie was featured in many books, magazines and she has been creating books ... Continue Reading »

Thought Imagery…
I love the practice of turning my thoughts around. I turned them upside down and inside out really looking for my truth in them. It is my process of questioning myself. I do this in meditation, but more often than not, I explore this through my art journals. Writing, sketching, and collaging my way to new insights through this process. Working with imagery uses a different part of my brain, guiding me to use my intuitive knowledge, which coupled with words, makes a big impact on my psyche. I don't propose to be a great philosopher or great thinker, but I know the mechanics of how my brain works, so that where I get my results, through ... Continue Reading »
Vision Board Workshop…
Over the weekend I facilitated a workshop on Creating Vision Boards. What an amazing experience! I only do workshops I believe in and that the participants will get value out of, or else, why bother? I was incredibly honored to share my creative energy with a wonderful circle of women from "Manifesting Your Heart". I started creating vision boards years ago, although, I didn't have a name for them at the time. I just wanted to create a visual that would show my dreams for my future, so that I would stay focused and create action to make them a reality. As the years went by and I looked back at old vision boards, I was amazed at how ... Continue Reading »
Art Journal Pages…
"The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are." - Joseph Campbell When a cold and rainy day gives you nothing, sometimes it's better to color your day the way you want! It was a cold and blustery day in the Studio Nookery, but it never stops me from creating. What motivates you on blah days? From my wildly passionate creative soul to yours in peace. ... End To Begin …
It isn't often that a blogging day coincides with the end of an art journal. It's either the week before or the week after. This week it has occurred at the same time. This art journal began on September 23 and ended October 21. Today gives me a chance to go back and look through this art journal and see what I've accomplished. No matter where I am emotionally, this process gives me a sense of satisfaction. I completed something that I started and it is a strong visual, to the fact that everything has an ending. Wouldn't it be lovely if all endings were so bittersweet? But even at my most idealist high, I'm aware that many endings are ... Continue Reading »
What’s in my Journal…
What stories do you create when you see images? Do you know the story already or does your mind create a history for the image or make up a fantasy? The beauty of creating in my art journal is that sometimes the image comes first, and sometimes the words. For me, it doesn't matter, because it all comes from within me; it can't be contained, so I get them outside of my mind, heart and spirit, so that I can view them outside of myself. They often tell me a great deal who I am and the world I live in. What stories stay with you? What imagery draws you to it? Think about it and tell your stories and show your imagery. From my ... My Truth on Affirmations…
Have you ever questioned the way you affirm or visualize? Do you affirm or visualize your life's possibilities? Affirmations are all about faith. Faith in the unknown. Faith that our thoughts have power. Faith that we can handle any challenges presented to us. Faith in timing. Faith that we are heard. My truth with affirmations is that I affirm any way I want, as long as I consistently feel positive feelings. My outer reality and behavior is constantly in flux, shifting to match my inner reality. But, I've come to learn, that if I know something to be true within, it will become true. That's it, the secret to affirmations. The older I ... Continue Reading »
