A large part of the symbolism of the cardinal comes from the brilliant red color of the males. Even its common name is derived from the royal red vestments worn by Catholic cardinals. I portrayed the brilliance of this bird in a feminine form and as a goddess.
This is an 8″ x 10″ (on 8.5 x 11 inch paper) print of my original painting. This print is matted and ready to be framed. The original piece is a 24″ x 18″ mixed media painting on rag cotton illustration board.
