This month is a time of some big transitions and rescheduling my time, so that I can get the most out of my studio days. Yesterday, I was feeling on edge, because of some new changes in my my work life. More to the point, I was super anxious. Yes, I'm excited about becoming more laser sharp on my time management and reorganization. But, I'm also wildly nervous, which sometimes leads to a vicious cycle of being stuck in place and getting no where! However, looking through my art journal, and concentrating on my intentions for this month, I am sharpening my focus. I know that I don’t want to just flounder around all day, procrastinating, so I ... Continue Reading »

Fear Less, Fear Less…
At the beginning of this year, my intention was to act with "Courage" and it seems that from the moment, I announced that as my intention, I've been thwarted by a near and strong individual, who has cared for me, all my life. This individual wants success for me on her terms and always gives me the deepest, and strongest feelings about every action I take. She took amazing care of me as a child, a teen and my early adulthood. I understand her like no other in my life...BUT, she keeps me from being the best that I can be and after a few days of arguing, hurtful things said and lots of lethargy. I accept the fact, that she is someone I have ... Continue Reading »
Gratitude Journal – Give Away!
I am creating a "Gratitude Art Journal." The journal will be filled with art, collages, quotes and affirmations about gratitude. The journal will have all kind of embellishment and colors, with plenty of room for your journal entries and/or entries of gratitude. Once it's completed, I will be giving it away! So in order to get this Gratitude Art Journal all you have to do is leave a comment here about what you're grateful for and/or "like" my Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/indigeneart (you also get to see my art journaling pages on my FB page). If you leave a comment and like my FB Page, you will get two entries and for those of ... Continue Reading »
Bounce Back
The last few weeks have been an incredibly busy time for me. I've finished (15) paintings in three weeks, while I continue working and being part of an Artist Mentoring Program. I am art journaling in a new altered book that has me reaching deep into the well of inspiration and creativity, adding new items to my Etsy Shop and still dealing with the now smaller waves of grief that come to me since the loss of my sister and mother. With all of these feelings running rampant, I'm breathing deeply, meditating, indulging in active self-care and lots of family and friends' love. I'm loving the becoming and realizing that I'm absolutely the Queen of ... Continue Reading »
My New & Shiny Video!
I've been journaling with an art journaling group, " Book of Days", which is art journaling for the year of 2012. I generally journal alone, but after setting my intention to be courageous this year; (in March 2012) I decided to share my art journal, individually and as part of a collaborative. Art Journaling everyday, necessitates creative wandering and when I wander, I produce work that is authentically me, through connections that exist only in my mind. This is my way of nurturing my creative self daily. I want my art journaling to act as a healing form for me and to others, in this journey of life. So, in following that road of courage, ... The Sight of Me…
Art journaling really helps you to look inward. For me, it operates as a visual diary of thoughts, ideas, issues, personal junk and humor. One recurring theme with me is I love creating portraits of women, archetypes, goddesses and mythical women, in general. What I don't do and realized I don't like is self-portraits or photos of myself. I never have! In looking through my Mom's old photos, I realized that there are probably 20 photos of me from childhood until now! I was always camera-shy and really hated it, when there was a family photo-shoot. (I probably get this from my Mom's side of the family, they weren't very keen on picture-taking ... Continue Reading »
Art Journaling
It's been a while, since I blogged. I've been very busy, family, friends, relationships, struggles, decisions, you know all the things that we do to keep living...fully! I was working on my "Grandmother Elder Series" and I hit a block, not a mortar block, but a creative one, so I had to take it to my journal, to process it! I've been journaling since my teens, and incorporating my art in my journals since about 2003/4. It's where I go to talk to myself. So after weeks of being in the journal, I'm ready to go back to working on my series. What I realized is during this time is that, although I'm creatively blocked at times, I always create ...
