You ever wake up from a nap, with your ribbons wrinkled and undone? Your hair is a mess and your face wrinkled from sleeping? Your undershirt full of wrinkles and too big? Your neck is sweaty from all the wrinkles around it? Even your ankles have wrinkles, too?Well, then you know how this little one feels? Just plain wrinkly! I feel just like she does, but oh I'm not so little or as cute!(This was snatched from a page in my sketch book)Say yes to the wrinkles in your life! ... Continue Reading »

Primitive – IF
Well, this was a tough one, since I don't think of the style of this image or the people as primitive, but there are others...This image was created after visiting South America. While I was there, I distinctly remember, tourists stating that there were still "primitive people" to see in the jungle. Every time I heard it, I cringed inside. I absolutely despise the term, "primitive" when it is associated with people or their culture! Yes, I know that some folks don't mean any harm when they use the term when referencing people, and I try to take in consideration, ignorance, age difference, cultural exposure, etc. But it still gives me a burn ... IF – Save
I completed this image some time ago and it is entitled, "Savior". I thought it was fitting since this stranger has saved this little girl from some plight. I'm not sure where my head was when I completed this illustration, but I know that this was completed after the Katrina Disaster. So, this is "Save" for my Illustration Friday.I've been in a strange mood lately, doing some real soul searching and I realized that my choices for Illustration Friday have been somewhat serious lately. There goes the adage, about separating work from play. For me, as an artist the two are always intertwined. Have a safe and peaceful week! ... Continue Reading »

Homage – IF
Homage is what this image inspired and represented, when I started it.It is a painting of my grandmother and her friends in the Caribbean. My grandmother was Carib Indian, who was very proud of her heritage and passed that on to her grandchildren. This painting is in my home, and gives me much solace when I look at it. It speaks of love, friendship and journey; the journey of her grandchildren to America, the journey she made when she left Dominica and St. Vincent to live in Trinidad. It speaks of the loss of her children during that journey and the friends who supported her through the hardship in her life. It's odd to me that I'm putting ... Continue Reading »
