Here's what's going on in my world: Finished the "Elephant Dream" Commission - (cannot show it, since collector has not seen it yet!) December Intentions
Every month, I set intentions, which coincide with my goals for the year. Now it may be a play on semantics, but somehow, setting intentions and not meeting them is not as bad as setting goals and not completing them (at least in my mind). Next week, I will be looking over my goals from the beginning of the year to see what I did manage to complete, but if it's anything like this month...well...I can say I tried. :) and I will be fine with that. This week will be the first week in December that I will actually be able to finally get around to my intentions for this month. One personal goal, I've set for myself is not to "beat myself" up for ... Continue Reading »
Art & Healing – Part 3 of 3
There is no right or wrong way to start an art journal, let your emotions guide you. An intuitive approach encourages you to just dive in, create and not think about what is is you're going to do. Let your unconscious mind take over the process. Some days, ripping through magazines to find images or text for your journal will be helpful, other days, writing or doodling will be all you can manage. What was helpful to me was to spend some days, just writing in a stream of consciousness, while other days, just putting down color on a page was all I could manage. As I went further along in the healing art journal process, I begin writing about ... Continue Reading »
Monday Laser Focus…
This month is a time of some big transitions and rescheduling my time, so that I can get the most out of my studio days. Yesterday, I was feeling on edge, because of some new changes in my my work life. More to the point, I was super anxious. Yes, I'm excited about becoming more laser sharp on my time management and reorganization. But, I'm also wildly nervous, which sometimes leads to a vicious cycle of being stuck in place and getting no where! However, looking through my art journal, and concentrating on my intentions for this month, I am sharpening my focus. I know that I don’t want to just flounder around all day, procrastinating, so I ... Continue Reading »
Gratitude Journal – Give Away!
I am creating a "Gratitude Art Journal." The journal will be filled with art, collages, quotes and affirmations about gratitude. The journal will have all kind of embellishment and colors, with plenty of room for your journal entries and/or entries of gratitude. Once it's completed, I will be giving it away! So in order to get this Gratitude Art Journal all you have to do is leave a comment here about what you're grateful for and/or "like" my Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/indigeneart (you also get to see my art journaling pages on my FB page). If you leave a comment and like my FB Page, you will get two entries and for those of ... Continue Reading »
Bounce Back
The last few weeks have been an incredibly busy time for me. I've finished (15) paintings in three weeks, while I continue working and being part of an Artist Mentoring Program. I am art journaling in a new altered book that has me reaching deep into the well of inspiration and creativity, adding new items to my Etsy Shop and still dealing with the now smaller waves of grief that come to me since the loss of my sister and mother. With all of these feelings running rampant, I'm breathing deeply, meditating, indulging in active self-care and lots of family and friends' love. I'm loving the becoming and realizing that I'm absolutely the Queen of ... Continue Reading »
Explorations & Experiments
I can't believe it's been five weeks, since I've blogged! No excuses, but I've been working hard in the studio! I am working in a mentorship program with Michele Theberge, which is changing how I work in the studio and increasing my accountability for creating and growing my mentors and support group. It's intense and I'm so worth doing this for myself as an artist. Here's some of the work, I've created... I've been experimenting with my style of portrait making. I've been wanting my portraits to be more 3-D, because of the art journaling I've been doing! I'm trying to find a way to incorporate the three dimensional aspect of my art ... Continue Reading »
